New Trailer: Emily Mortimer Stars in Horror Film 'Relic'

We really enjoyed Emily Mortimer in the comedy Doll and Em (2013-2015), which she co-created and co-starred with her real-life friend Dolly Wells. Since then, she's been spotted in 2017's The Bookshop and 2018's Mary Poppins Returns.

Her next project is neither a comedy nor magical, though... with her starring in IFC Films' horror movie Relic, reports ComingSoon.net. The story revolves around an elderly woman (Robyn Nevin), named Edna, who goes missing from her home. Mortimer plays her daughter Kay. Kay and her daughter (Bella Heathcote) go to Edna's home in hopes of finding her.

Kay is seeing hints of dementia at her mother's country house. As she starts to come to a conclusion, her mother suddenly reappears and all she says is, "Tea?" Edna can't recall where she's been, saying, "I suppose I went out."

In the new trailer, Edna believes there's something in the house, saying, "It's here." She asks Kay to look under the bed. All we'll say is, "Don't look under the bed!!"

If you dare, check out the new trailer — you can see if she finds anything... or anyone:

It seems like one of those storylines that straddles supernatural and real-life issues, and it's not quite known which one it is until the end.

Relic is written and directed by Natalie Erika James (Drum Wave), with this being her feature debut. The movie premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival and will be available via VOD on July 10. It's expected to have a theatrical release, but at this time the date is unknown.

Are you going to watch this with one eye shut?
