New Trailer: Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones Reunite for 'The Aeronauts'

The Theory of Everything co-stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are teaming up once again, for the biographical drama The Aeronauts.

What's an aeronaut, you ask? It's a person traveling via air transport and in this case... a hot air balloon. Redmayne and Jones portray scientist James Glaisher and pilot Amelia Wren, respectively. Inspired by a true story, in 1862 the two sought out to research weather patterns, but when their balloon went too high it became a fight for survival.

At the start of the trailer, we can feel their excitement of going into the unknown, being two of the first to make such an exploration. But, then things take a turn, becoming quite dire:

Glaisher was actually on this flight, but Wren's character is fictional, a composite of adventurers from the time, including Henry Coxwell, Glaisher's actual co-aeronaut, and Amelia Earhart.

It's not clear why Coxwell was substituted out. Our guess is to have female representation and, err, well, it's Hollywood. Moviemakers sometimes make up their own rules.

The Aeronauts is directed by Tom Harper (War & Peace miniseries), with Harper co-writing the script with Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials). You can look for the film in theaters on December 6.

Are you psyched to see these two team up again?
