New Trailer: Domhnall Gleeson Stars Opposite Steve Carell in ‘The Patient’

We know Domhnall Gleeson from projects like About Time and Peter Rabbit. This time around, he's going very dark, taking on the role of a serial killer in The Patient, reports ComingSoon.net.
He’s not just a serial killer, but one who's looking for help, but in a very dangerous way. He holds a therapist (Steve Carell) hostage and forces him to conduct sessions against his will.
This may be an understatement, but we don’t think this is going to end well:

At first glance, it seems like Domnhall’s character is a typical fella, saying, “I’m not content. I get angry. That’s the sort of thing you help people with, right?” But, as the trailer rolls out, we see that there is a huge chain latched around the therapist’s ankle.
There is nothing typical about this.
It seems the therapist himself has some skeletons in his closet, with his friend saying to him, “Time to get back into therapy?” A therapist who relies on a therapist — it makes us wonder, where dose the trail stop?
Well, in this case, it may stop with murder, depending on how the story goes…

Here's a peek at the official description: The series follows Alan Strauss, a therapist who is held prisoner by patient Sam Fortner who reveals himself to be a serial killer,” reads the synopsis. “With time running out, Alan fights desperately to stop Sam before Alan becomes complicit in Sam’s murders or worse – becomes a target himself.”
It seems like there are a lot of moving parts in this one, and we are intrigued to see how it all falls into place.
The Patient premieres on August 20.
