New Trailer: Armie Hammer and Dakota Johnson Battle Killer Cell Phone in Thriller Flick 'Wounds'
Yep, you read that right, the villain in this new killer-thriller film is a... cell phone. Armie Hammer (Sorry to Bother You) and Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey) star as a young couple in the new movie Wounds, heading to Hulu on October 18.
We see them canoodling in the morning and doing typical couple-y stuff, and then Hammer's character goes off to work to bartend. A scuffle breaks out, which is resolved, but a cell phone is left behind on the ground.
That's where things get weird:

When Hammer goes through the phone to try and figure out its owner, he comes across something... something he can't even describe, saying to Dakota's character, "You don't want to see it. You don't want to see it, it's awful." As part of his deep research, aka, Googling, he's led to a page that reads "transcend physical boundaries," at 1:15 in the above clip. We can't see the entire page... but, we get the gist, the phone appears to be possessed or act as some sort of portal.
We would like to refer back to the killer cell phone premise in 2008's Forgetting Sarah Marshall, like, hmm, take the battery out?? We're just being cheeky... clearly it's not all that simple. Whatever has taken over the phone, and Hammer's mind and body for that matter, can most likely jump into something else, say, a digital toaster.
Wounds premieres on Hulu on October 18.
Are you now giving your own cell phone side-eye??
