New Trailer: 'A Discovery of Witches' Returns for Season 2

The first season of A Discovery of Witches premiered in 2018, where we learned supernatural interspecies relationships are forbidden. Even so, vampire Matthew Claremont and witch Diana Bishop broke the rules and got romantical.

Matthew Goode and Teresa Palmer return to reprise their roles as Claremont and Bishop for the follow-up season, premiering on Sundance Now and Shudder in the U.S. and Sky in the U.K.

The series is adapted from Deborah Harkness' All Souls book series, which revolves around the lives of vampires, witches and daemons living and working amongst humans. All the while, keeping their abilities a secret, hiding in plain site.

In the first season, it was believed Claremont and Bishop's relationship was doomed, but in the new trailer, we see they are still teamed together and are now facing a war... in the year 1590:

You may have spotted Doctor Who's Alex Kingston in the above, who starred in the first season as Bishop's witch-y aunt and is back to reprise her role. You can also look for other returning cast members Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve), Lindsay Duncan (The Leftovers) and Owen Teale (Game of Thrones).

Season two of A Discovery of Witches, consisting of ten episodes, will kick off in the U.K. on January 8, 2021. We can look for the premiere in the U.S. on January 9.
