The new Bond movie, No Time to Die, has been pushed back yet again. It's now scheduled for release on October 8, 2021.

The announcement was made on the franchise's official website. Coronavirus isn't mentioned in the super-brief post, but it's to be presumed that Bond stewards Eon Productions are holding the movie until theaters globally can open safely again.

The latest delay means that No Time to Die, Daniel Craig's final outing as 007, will now arrive nearly two years later than planned. The 25th Bond movie was initially scheduled for release in November 2019, before original director Danny Boyle exited the project and Eon Productions pushed it to February and then April 2020.

With new director Cary Joji Fukunaga on board, the movie was on schedule for an April 2020 release until coronavirus prompted Eon to delay it until November 2020, and then April 2021. The movie's theme song "No Time to Die," written and performed by Billie Eilish, entered the charts back in February 2020.

The latest delay announcement isn't too surprising given that theaters in the U.K. – where previous Bond movie Spectre raked in $135.5 million of its $880.7 million global gross – are currently closed and likely to remain so for weeks, and potentially months, to come.

No Time to Die has a script co-written by Fleabag and Killing Eve's Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and a villain played by Bohemian Rhapsody's Rami Malek. The cast also includes Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Ana de Armas, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz, and Ralph Fiennes.
