Gaiman then teased some further details for season two in a Netflix news story. "There are some astonishing stories waiting for Morpheus and the rest of them (not to mention more members of the Endless Family to meet)," he said. "Nobody is going to be happier about this than the Sandman cast and crew: They are the biggest Sandman fans there are. And now it’s time to get back to work. There's a family meal ahead, after all. And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell…"
Based on a comic book Gaiman wrote between 1989 and 1996, The Sandman launched on Netflix this August – originally with 10 episodes, but then with a surprise 11th featuring David Tennant that arrived two weeks later. Tom Sturridge stars as Lord Morpheus / Dream, an all-powerful character who is the personification of both dreams and nightmares. He leads an ensemble cast that includes Vivienne Acheampong, Patton Oswalt, Boyd Holbrook, Gwendoline Christie, Jenna Coleman, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
There's no word yet on when the new season will premiere, but we'll definitely be keeping an eye on Gaiman's Twitter account for further news.
