Matthew Goode Takes It to a New Level in ‘The Godfather’ Biopic Series ‘The Offer’

Matthew Goode has been lighting up the screen, starring in AMC’s A Discovery of Witches. He’s one of those actors who is easy to spot, but in his latest role, that may not be the case.
Goode is set to star as studio head Robert Evans in the forthcoming The Offer, reports Empire. The 10-episode series revolves around working to get the now iconic movie The Godfather made.
It’s not like Goode has prosthetics or is wearing a ton of makeup – really he’s thrown on a pair of spectacles – but his voice, body language and even the words he’s delivering are… transformative. We suppose what we’re describing all falls under acting, but this is a version of Goode we've never seen before.
If you’d like to find out for yourselves, what exactly what we mean by that, here’s a peek at the trailer:

One of the standout moments in the above clip is when Goode, as Evans, says to producer Albert S. Ruddy (Miles Teller), “You’ve got brains. And you’ve got balls. Try using both.”
Wowser, those are some blunt words. But, at the same time, not bad advice. Even Ruddy was caught off guard, but not offended, it gave him a little smile.
Sure, Teller is the lead in this series, starring as Ruddy, who works steadfastly to get the picture to screen, in spite of intimidation from the crime family it’s about, but it’s Goode who steals the scene.
At least, in this first look trailer… admittedly, there is more to come.
But, it’s not just about the boys. Juno Temple stars as Ruddy’s assistant Bettye McCartt. While McCartt is an entry-level employee, she is described as a "powerhouse in her own right.”
We know The Godfather did make it to the big screen in 1972, but it sounds like this series might fill in the blanks on just how it happened.
The Offer is written by Nikki Toscano (Revenge), who will act as showrunner.
The series is set to premiere over at Paramount+ later this year.
