Fans of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy will be able to catch up with cast members at a series of 20th anniversary events beginning later this month.

Sir Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Cate Blanchett, Liv Tyler, Billy Boyd, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, Viggo Mortensen, and Elijah Wood have all signed up for the events, which will be hosted by Stephen Colbert.

The anniversary panel events will "initially be exclusive to theatrical screenings of the new 4K remastering of The Lord of the Rings trilogy," Deadline reports. They're part of the global "Support Local Cinemas" initiative encouraging movie fans to return to theaters after their future was jeopardized by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The schedule for the reunion events is as follows:

From March 25: The Fellowship of the Ring featuring Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, and Elijah Wood.

From April 1: The Two Towers featuring Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Viggo Mortensen, and Liv Tyler.

From April 8: The Return of the King featuring Peter Jackson, Ian McKellen, and Andy Serkis.

The events are the brainchild of the Alamo Drafthouse theater chain, whose founder Tim League assembled the panel members with help from Wood. “One of the experiences I miss most during this last year, beyond getting to hug my friends and travel, is sitting in a dark movie theater eagerly anticipating a new cinematic experience,” said Wood. “When Tim reached out with the idea that we could band together to bring some much-needed support to independent theaters across the globe, I jumped at the chance to help.”
