Liam Neeson has found his niche as an action star. In his next project, he’ll be mixing in some mystery…
You can look for Neeson as detective Philip Marlowe in the forthcoming thriller Marlowe, which was announced earlier this year.
Neeson can definitely headline a movie, but he can’t do it all alone, with the casting machine in full force. Neeson will be joined by Diane Kruger, Jessica Lange, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Alan Cumming, Danny Huston, Ian Hart and Colm Meaney
Daniela Melchior and François Arnaud are the latest to be cast, reports Deadline.
The story is based on John Banville’s 2014 novel The Black-Eyed Blonde, with William Monahan (The Departed) writing the script.
The story kicks off with Marlowe being approached by an eccentric heiress (Kruger), whose ex-lover has gone missing. It’s described as looking like an “open and shut case,” but that wouldn’t make much of a movie.
It turns out, the missing lover is just the first in a chain of odd events, with Marlowe getting wrapped up with a high-profile, wealthy Hollywood family, who will go to great lengths to protect their fortune.
Lange will portray the matriarch of the family and mother to the heiress.
Marlowe has begun filming with Neil Jordan (The Crying Game) directing.
