Actors Lesley Manville, Toby Jones, Nina Wadia, and Sheila Hancock are among the Brits recognized in the Queen's New Year Honours List.

Manville – soon to portray Princess Margaret in the final two seasons of The Crown – has been made a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) for services to drama and charity, adding to the OBE (Officer of the British Empire) accolade she received in 2015.

BAFTA winner Jones has been made an OBE for services to drama, while EastEnders and Doctor Who actress Wadia received the same accolade for services to entertainment and charity.

Hancock, who already has OBE and CBE accolades, received a Damehood for services to drama and charity. Commenting on the award, she told the BBC self-deprecatingly: "I've never felt myself this sort of person. It just doesn't happen to people like me. I feel I may be lowering the tone. I feel slightly miscast, let's put it that way."

Line of Duty and Bodyguard creator Jed Mercurio has also recieved an OBE, while Oscar-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins (1917, Blade Runner: 2049) has been knighted.

Seven-times Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton received a Knighthood as well, while highly influential makeup artist Pat McGrath has been made a Dame. This year's New Year Honours List includes a total of 1,239 recipients who have been "recognized for their extraordinary contributions in all four nations of the United Kingdom."

In anticipation of her Damehood, which had been rumored for several weeks, we've made Sheila Hancock our British Icon of the Week. Meanwhile, Michael Sheen has recently revealed that he quietly returned his OBE to avoid feeling like a "hypocrite."

Congratulations to everyone recognized in the Queen's New Year Honours List!
