You may remember Kris Marshall from his role in Love Actually, portraying a British expat living large in small town America. In 2014, he joined the fan favorite series Death in Paradise.
It’s not just the series that's a hit, but his character, too, with DI Humphrey Goodman getting his own show. Marshall is set to take the lead in the forthcoming Death in Paradise spinoff series, which is entitled Beyond Paradise. We are really liking the simplicity of the name, which also acts as a double entendre.
Marshall talked to Digital Spy and said filming will begin in about three weeks. The series is set to revolve around Goodman and his fiancée Martha (Sally Bretton). According to the description, the couple will be starting "a new life together in the idyll of rural Britain.”
It’s not just Marshall on board, with him saying, "We’re in the process now, we’ve got most of the main cast, but we’re sort of casting some of the supporting roles."
The spinoff will be set in Martha’s hometown where there is a "surprisingly high crime rate.”
That sounds about right with Goodman being a crime-solver.
Marshall is excited about what he’s seen already, saying: "What it is about the scripts that I really love, Tony Jordan’s done a beautiful job on the two or three scripts I’ve seen. It’s exactly what you hope for in terms of if you’re a fan of Death in Paradise. Obviously it’s not in the Caribbean, but it’s in its own paradise. It’s got its own new twist on it.”
It sounds like this will meet fans’ expectations as well.
Are you up for going beyond Death in Paradise?
