Kate Winslet Shares Her Thoughts on Making More 'Mare of Easttown'
Kate Winslet has shared her thoughts on making a second season of Mare of Easttown.
Winslet has garnered considerable acclaim for her performance in the crime drama series as Mare Sheehan, a Pennsylvania detective investigating the disappearance of two local teenage girls, in addition to a murder. The final episode of the seven-part limited series, for which Winslet had to perfect the notoriously tricky Philadelphia (or more specifically, "Delco") accent, aired on HBO this past Sunday.
"I would absolutely love to play Mare again," Winslet told TVLine. "I miss her. I really do. It’s the strangest thing. I feel like I’m in mourning. It was an absolutely wonderful role…"
"There’s something very addictive about Mare," added Winslet, who also served as an executive producer on the series, "because she’s so outrageous and lovable and brilliant and real, you know? I loved playing her."
However, the series' director and executive producer Craig Zobel spoke a little more cautiously about bringing back Mare, saying that he would be "excited to see" a second season, while adding, “I also like it as a miniseries.”
What we do know for certain, though, is that Winslet will next be seen in James Cameron's long awaited Avatar 2, which is scheduled for release this December.
