If you've been getting excited about a possible sequel to The Holiday, you might want to take a deep breath. Kate Winslet has responded to a report that a follow-up is in the works and, well, it isn't good news.
"As far as I know, it's not true," Winslet told Entertainment Tonight at the London premiere of her upcoming movie,  Avatar: The Way of Water. Winslet added that  "no one's ever consulted" her about a sequel to the Christmas rom-com, which has become a true festive favorite since it first came out in 2006.
Written and directed by Nancy Meyers, The Holiday follows two women from opposite sides of the pond (Winslet and Cameron Diaz) who arrange a transatlantic house swap during the holiday season. After arriving in L.A., Winslet's English newspaper columnist Iris falls for Miles, a movie composer played by Jack Black. Meanwhile, Diaz's film trailer producer Amanda enjoys a romance of her own in England – with Winslet's brother Graham, a book editor played by Jude Law.
Winslet did at least show some enthusiasm for reconnecting with these characters in her new interview, saying:  "It would be so fun to see Miles and Iris get back together. I kind of imagine, like, how cute would their children be? Tiny Jack Blacks running around everywhere."
However, Meyers has also responded to the report in no uncertain terms, writing in an Instagram post: "So many DM's about this – sorry but it's not true."
