Kaley Cuoco Set to Star in ‘Based on a True Story’ Comedy Thriller Series

We’ve been highly enjoying Kaley Cuoco in The Flight attendant (2020-2022), which also features Anglo favorite Michelle Gomez. It’s been mentioned that the second season will be the final season and there are no plans for a third (bummer).
But, with that said, that doesn’t mean Cuoco is going to stop. She’s already signed on for but another thriller series. You can look for her in the forthcoming Based on a True Story series, which is heading to Peacock, reports Deadline.
As the cheeky title suggests, it’s based on a true story. But, not just that, it goes one step further and helps explain viewers’ interest in true crime.
The official synopsis helps fill in the blanks: “Inspired by a bizarre true event, the series is about a realtor, a plumber, and a former tennis star whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime, murder, and the slow close toilet seat.”
It’s not clear how a slow close toilet seat fits into the mix – we suppose the quest for comfort in unexpected ways – but we shall find out soon enough, when Based on a True Story begins production.
We’ve definitely noticed the draw of true crime and it’s made us think, “why?” For some, it might be morbid curiosity, for others, it may be to help explain the unexplainable. It may be like the allure of a slow close toilet seat and there really is no one explanation.
Based on a True Story is in its early stages, but we look forward to its theories on the public’s interest.
Is true crime one of your go-to genres? If so, do you mind if we ask why!?
