Jon Hamm Confirmed to Join David Tennant and Michael Sheen for More 'Good Omens'
It's official: Jon Hamm has signed up for a second dose of Good Omens.
Hamm will reprise his role as Archangel Gabriel in the second season of the hit fantasy series based on the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Variety reports. It's shooting now in Scotland, with David Tennant and Michael Sheen back as the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale.
Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Doon Mackichan will reprise her role as Angel Michael and Gloria Obianyo will return as Uriel. In addition, three new cast members have been announced: Silent Witness alum Liz Carr will play Saraqael, Havoc actress Quelin Sepulveda will appear as Muriel, and Bridgerton's Shelley Conn has been cast as a "key character from Hell."
"Good Omens 2 just would not be the same without the astonishing Jon Hamm as Gabriel, everyone's worst boss,” said co-showrunner Gaiman in a statement. "The story that Terry Pratchett and I created all those years ago continues to take us from London’s Soho into Heaven and Hell."
He continued, "It’s a delight for me to bring back characters we loved (or hated) and bring in new characters, from the shiniest top floors of Heaven to the dankest basements of Hell, to love (or to hate, or to love to hate or hate to love). All of them are part of the strange and unusually beloved family of Good Omens."
Co-showrunner and director Douglas Mackinnon also revealed that the new season is well into its shoot, saying of Hamm: "He joins us nearly halfway through production, when we have already welcomed to the Good Omens 2 family familiar faces in familiar roles, familiar faces in unfamiliar roles, and unfamiliar faces in unfamiliar roles. We also have an unfamiliar face in a familiar role."
Clearly, fans have plenty to speculate on ahead of the season two premiere.
