John Boyega Reveals He Lobbied for More 'Involvement' in New 'Star Wars' Movie
If you felt that John Boyega's Star Wars character Finn was kind of sidelined in the last movie, today brings some reassuring news. The British actor has told a fan on Twitter that he was "adamant" Finn would have more involvement in this year's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Boyega made the candid admission after a fan complained that Finn had been "completely wasted" in Episode VIII of the space opera franchise, 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Boyega's honesty didn't end there. When another fan suggested that the franchise had "done Finn dirty" by deciding to "push him to the side," Boyega replied with clear dismay: "I really didn’t know many fans felt this way."

At least fans don't have too long to wait to see how Finn fares in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The final installment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy opens in U.S. theaters on December 20 – a day after its U.K. release.
The blockbuster's official synopsis teases: "Lucasfilm and director J.J. Abrams join forces once again to take viewers on an epic journey to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the riveting conclusion of the seminal Skywalker saga, where new legends will be born and the final battle for freedom is yet to come."
Boyega and Daisy Ridley will once again be joined by O.G. Star Wars faves Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, who is appearing posthumously, as well as by franchise newbie Richard E. Grant, who is joining the saga as Allegiant General Pryde, a high-ranking figure in the First Order.
