Jamie Dornan Looks Back on His Time as Eddie Redmayne's Roommate: 'We Were Pretty Messy'

Jamie Dornan and Eddie Redmayne used to be roommates back in the day – yes, really.
Around 2009, a few years before they became famous, the two actors shared a place in L.A. while they tried to make inroads into the entertainment industry. And during this period of their lives, they often hung out with fellow rising stars Andrew Garfield, Robert Pattinson, and Charlie Cox. Frankly, it's the epitome of "squad goals."
"Garfield and Robert were always around, and Charlie Cox," Dornan recalled during a new interview on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show. "I mean, there's loads of us who actually ended up going on to do pretty well for ourselves. But at the time we... we weren't. We were pretty, yeah, pretty messy."
Dornan also admitted it was "pretty weird" to look back on his time as Redmayne's roomie, especially because the two actors' lives have changed so much in the subsequent 12 or 13 years. "Eddie's been one of my best mates for a long time, and now we've got, you know, five kids between us and we're very much more sort of together people and stable people, probably," he recalled. "But we had a lot of fun then."
Hearteningly, Dornan also said that this clique of young British actors in Hollywood "were never competitive with each other" despite often going up for the same roles. "They're all really great guys and really good actors. It's cool that it kind of all happened for us, in a way," he added.
Let's hope they post a photo to Instagram next time they have a reunion.
