James Corden Addresses 'Carpool Karaoke' Mishap: 'I Know This Looks Bad'

We used to cover Carpool Karaoke on a regular basis, but then posting updates seemed to be getting a bit repetitive, at the least formulaic, i.e. The Late Late Show with James Corden recruits a celebrity, the guest gets in the car with chat show host James Corden, he makes a reason for the guest to be in the car, they sing together.

Don't get us wrong, we enjoy the sing-along, but all of us know what's coming.

Speeding up to this week, Corden has gotten himself into a bit of a situation. It's not all that huge, but, for some reason it's become a big enough deal that he felt the need to address it.

He was out filming the sketch and a person on the street noticed the fact that he was not actually driving the car. More importantly, the person on the street filmed this happening and posted it online. And, it got people's attention.

Since Corden is in fact a host of a national TV show, he has a platform to address this slight snafu, which he did... somewhat perfectly. He recapped what had happened and admitted he was "shocked" how upset people were by his not driving the car. Not to dismiss viewer reaction, but, he is an actor. And in this scenario, he is acting the role of chat show host in distress.

In fact, 95% of the time he is driving the car. But, this time fell into the 5% that he was not. In addition to him not maneuvering the car himself, he reveals another element of the show that is fictionalized, he doesn't actually need the guest to help him get to work. He reinforces this by stating, "I'm at work, already!!"

While it's not a big deal, it is really worth watching his apology, because it is just that ridiculous (in a good way):

If his dedicating his monologue to this non-scandal wasn't enough, he provided a list of the times he relied on a tow truck to pull the car and a list of the times he drove the car himself, with the latter outweighing the former.

This gave us a giggle, what about you?
