MGM now owns the James Bond franchise. There was talk of the franchise heading to TV, but longtime producer Barbara Broccoli put those rumors to rest saying 007 belongs on the big screen.
While we won’t see a scripted series, James Bond is heading to TV… sort of. Amazon, which has acquired MGM, is working on a competition series, reports ComingSoon.net.
The eight-part series, entitled 007’s Road to a Million, will see two-member teams tasked with a “test of intelligence and endurance.” As part of the competition, they’re expected to pass “physical obstacles and correctly answer questions hidden in different locations,” according to the description.
The series will take the contestants around the world, visiting spots that are featured in the James Bond movies.
We won’t be seeing the new James Bond actor on TV, but it seems the ethos behind the character will act as inspiration for the forthcoming series. Possibly, we’ll be meeting a “real” James Bond of sorts.
Now we’re picturing potential candidates re-watching all of the Bond movies to get ready to apply.
