Henry Cavill Squashes Sherlock Holmes Spinoff Movie Rumors

Henry Cavill portrays older brother Sherlock in the Enola Holmes movies, starring Millie Bobby Brown in the title role. The movies are based on the YA novel series by Nancy Springer.
The stories center on the youth sleuth following in the footsteps of the elder Holmes.
There’s been talk on the Internet of Cavill continuing the story on his own, with him turning to The Wrap to address the chatter. He says of this rumor, “There’s always whisperings of these sort of things, but nothing is ever official until you enter the first day of shooting, and even then until you finish shooting and even then it has to come out.”
He isn’t necessarily providing a hard 'no,' which makes sense, as not to overpromise. Or, in this case, underpromise. People seem to be enjoying the Enola character, and so is Cavill. He goes on to talk about the siblings’ relationship, saying, “There’s a strong emotional connection to Enola there, there’s a similarity in how they’re raised. It allows for a slightly different viewpoint. When it comes to Enola, there’s always this emotionality with the connection, which is otherwise unique to the Enola universe.”
Cavill makes a good point. Sherlock can see himself in Enola and it's reciprocated. There is an older-older Holmes, Mycroft, but he and Sherlock have a bit of sibling rivalry. Even so, they are all cut from the same cloth.
We look forward to seeing if there are more Enola Holmes movies to come.
In the meantime, here’s a peek at the trailers for the original movie (2020) and sequel (2022):
