'Happy Valley's Sarah Lancashire is Heading to U.S. Streaming TV with Julia Child Biopic Series
We know Sarah Lancashire from the police procedural Happy Valley (2014-2016). She's also starred in other hit series like Lark Rise to Candleford (2008 -2011), The Paradise (2012-2013) and Last Tango in Halifax (2012-2020).
And, you being the Anglophiles you are, know that all four of the above are British productions. She's now heading to HBO Max, to star in the drama Julia. Yep, Julia as in Julia Child, author and chef extraordinaire. We can also look for Tom Hollander (The Night Manager) to play her husband, Paul.
We really enjoyed the 2009 movie Julie & Julia, starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep. It's almost like, how can that be topped? But, thinking back, the biopic is more about about the young writer Julie Powell and her affinity for Child.
The new series sounds to be all Julia, focusing on her life and career, with the description giving more detail: "Through Child and her singular can-do spirit, it explores an evolving time in American history — the emergence of a new social institution called public television, feminism and the women's movement, the nature of celebrity and America's cultural growth. At its heart, the show is a portrait of a marriage with an evolving and complicated power dynamic," reports The Hollywood Reporter.
And, with Lancashire on board, it's sure to be worth checking out (we really like her, we're a little biased).
