Are you ready for another visit to Granchester? ITV and Masterpiece PBS have recommissioned the hit crime drama for an eighth season, and filming is already underway.
In a press release, ITV confirmed that stars Robson Green (who plays DI Geordie Keating) and Tom Brittney (who plays Reverend Will Davenport) are both back on board for the new run. They're joined by regular castmates Charlotte Ritchie (Bonnie), Tessa Peake-Jones (Mrs C), Al Weaver (Leonard Finch), Kacey Ainsworth (Cathy Keating), Oliver Dimsdale (Daniel Marlowe), and Nick Brimble (Jack Chapman).
Green, also an executive producer on the show, said of the new season: "It's so good to be back on Grantchester. A series that just gets better with age. Everyone involved is at the top of their game and this incredibly charming, likeable, dark, and edgy show is an absolute privilege to be part of."
Brittney added: “I'm absolutely chuffed that we’re going ahead with another series of Grantchester and that I get to continue playing a character I adore so much. To be part of a show as well-loved as this one, that is now in its eighth series, is an absolute honor."
ITV also teased that storylines coming in the new season will "range from Speedway to spies," while also "exploring the lives of invisible women and the very visible problems caused by Leonard’s new vocation which may, once again, find him battling the law." You can also look out for a guest role from Jemima Rooper, who you may recognize from Atlantis and BBC America's The Split.
Season seven of Grantchester debuted on PBS Masterpiece in July. At the same, we rounded up 10 things we appreciate about Robson Green, which you can check out here.
