First Look: Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson Star in B&W Fantasy-Horror Flick 'The Lighthouse'
If you're a fan of old-timey movies, filmed in black-and-white, on actual film, then 2019's The Lighthouse is for you.
The fantasy-horror flick, starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, is set in 1890 Nova Scotia. The movie was made using equipment from the 1920s and 40s, filmed on 35mm stock, according to ComingSoon.net.
We can look for Dafoe as an aging lighthouse keeper, named Old. (Co-writer and director Robert Eggers is really sticking with the theme here.) The name of Pattinson's character has not been announced, but we're guessing it's not Young, that'd be a little too obvious.
Possibly the first look photo will provide some clues of how the two men are connected:

Based on the above, it looks like they're wearing the same kind of uniform, consisting of a cap with insignia, peacoat, even down to the lapel pin. It's only a guesstimate, but it appears they're both lighthouse keepers. From there... anything is possible, it being fantasy-horror.
The synopsis has yet to be revealed, but The Lighthouse is set to premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival, taking place from May 14-25.
Robert Eggers (The Witch) co-wrote the film with his brother, Max. This is the first time the brothers are collaborating on a feature film.
Pattinson's sci-fi thriller High Life is currently in theaters. We last saw Dafoe in 2018's Aquaman AND chatting with Anglophenia's Sharon Carpenter on the red carpet:
