Suranne Jones is here to get you into the festive spirit... well, kind of, anyways.
In the just-released trailer for Christmas Carole, Jones appears as a contemporary and very stylish Scrooge. The witty trailer plays out like a heartwarming holiday commercial before delivering a less-than-joyful surprise at the end.

Commissioned by U.K. network Sky, Christmas Carole is billed as a "yuletide story of our times" loosely based on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. In the one-off TV comedy, Jones plays Carole Mackay, a talented entrepreneur who's made her fortune selling all things festive without soaking up much of the Christmas spirit herself.
According to the plot synopsis, "The truth is that Carole is a monumentally mean person. Positively Scrooge-like. And, just like Ebeneezer, she doesn’t love Christmas at all. But this Christmas Eve, Carole’s past, present, and future are about to collide. Will some rather familiar Christmas spirits help her discover the true spirit of Christmas?"
It sounds like a fun spin on Dickens' Ebeneezer Scrooge redemption story. Christmas Carole will air in the U.K. this holiday season, but there's no word yet on U.S. broadcast details.
