Garland began her career as a child actress, with both of her parents being a part of the vaudeville circuit. She signed on to MGM as a teenager. According to TV Guide, Garland starred in over 30 films, but her most memorable work is probably as Dorothy in 1939's Wizard of Oz.
While her career was long and varied — made up of films, TV and live concerts — Judy will detail Garland's last year living, prior to her death in 1969 at the age of 47. We will see Garland in London, where she traveled to perform what would turn out to be her final concerts.
The film's official description provides details on what to expect: "As she prepares for the show, battles with management, charms musicians, and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through. Even her dreams of romance seem undimmed as she embarks on a courtship with Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband."
If you're not sure Zellweger has the vocal range to match Garland's abilities, here she is singing her heart out in the 2002 musical Chicago as Roxie Hart:

Zellweger has also already completed filming on 2018's Blue Night, starring opposite Simon Baker (The Devil Wears Prada).
We can look for Judy in theaters later this year, also starring Michael Gambon and Rufus Sewell. The biopic is based on a script by writer Tom Edge (The Crown, Lovesick). Rupert Goold (King Charles III) is set to direct.
Now that you've seen the photo, do you think Renée Zellweger is a good choice for this role?
