First Look Photo: Oscar Isaac Set to Star in Thriller 'The Card Counter'

We've seen Oscar Isaac in blockbusters like the Star Wars franchise and sci-fi flicks including Ex Machina. His next project is a thriller called The Card Counter.

Like many projects, filming had begun but the production was halted. Things will pick up again in July. In addition to getting some movement, a first look photo of Isaac in character has been released (and he looks pissed):

Issac plays a former serviceman named William Tell, who has a penchant for gambling.

Gambling can be a dangerous game, but it sounds like there is a bigger threat at hand, that goes beyond money. Tell is approached by a young man named Cirk (Tye Sheridan), seeking revenge on a mutual enemy. Tell doesn't go along with the plan and opts out.

Instead, he takes the young man on a road trip as a distraction. They travel from casino to casino, with the plan to compete in the World Series of Poker. According to the description, Tell sees a chance at redemption by helping Cirk get past his grudge toward a former colonel.

If you click on the above tweet to see the full photo, you'll see that Tell is holding a gun. Possibly... he's changed his mind?

In addition to Isaac and Sheridan, viewers can look for Willem Dafoe and Tiffany Haddish.

There's no set premiere date, but filming is back on in July.
