Michael Sheen and Sharon Horgan are teaming up for a new BBC drama series that looks set to provoke a very strong emotional response in viewers.
Titled Best Interests, it follows married couple Nicci and Andrew (Horgan and Sheen) as they are faced with an absolutely unbearable dilemma – one no parent should ever have to go through. Their daughter Marnie has a life-threatening condition and doctors believe it is in her "best interests" to be allowed to die. However, Andrew and Nicci disagree, so they embark on a high-profile legal battle to overturn the doctors' decision and prolong Marnie's life.
A first-look image shows the couple standing outside a courtroom surrounded by reporters, offering a glimpse of the scrutiny and anguish they will face along the way.

Best Interests is written by BAFTA winner Jack Thorne (Enola Holmes, His Dark Materials, National Treasure). The supporting cast includes Mat Fraser, whom you may remember from BBC America's CripTales, as well of Gangs of London's Lucian Msamati, Happy Valley's Shane Zaza, The Undoing's Noma Dumezweni, and Grantchester's Gary Beadle.
It's set to air on BBC One in the U.K. in 2023. There's no word yet on a U.S. air date, but given the amount of top talent involved, it's surely only a matter of time before it finds a stateside home.
