First Look: 'Kingsman' Star Taron Egerton Transforms Into Elton John for 'Rocketman' Biopic
Back in April, we confirmed that the Elton John biopic, Rocketman, is in fact happening, with Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) in the title role.
The project was up in the air for five years, but the release date has been set as May 17, 2019. And judging by this first look snap of Egerton glammed up as the music icon, shared via the official Rocketman movie Twitter page, it appears filming has begun.

Not only is he sporting John's trademark duds, hairstyle, and even sparkle-rimmed sunglasses (notice it's night time), but he's sat on a fully-furnished private jet. It doesn't get more rock star than that!
In addition to getting the look down, Egerton will be responsible for the actual singing, too, which we are on pins and needles to have a listen to. We should point out, Egerton lent his voice to the young gorilla, named Johnny, in Sing. And, one of the songs he sang was John's "I'm Still Standing."
The movie tells the story of how John started out as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music and his eventual songwriting collaboration with Bernie Taupin, played by Jamie Bell (Snowpiercer, Billy Elliot).
Speaking of Bell, Billy Elliot writer, Lee Hall, penned the screenplay for Rocketman, reuniting the two men. Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle) is directing.
John and his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish will be producing.
If it's been a while since you've seen the music video for John's 1972 single, "Rocket Man," which he wrote with Taupin, here it is:

Rocketman will take off next spring (May 17).
Is this something you can sign up for?
