Ever since news filtered out that a movie adaptation of Stephen King's popular Dark Tower series was in the works, people have wondered who would play the books' protagonist: the mysterious Roland Deschain, known simply as The Gunslinger.

And ever since Idris Elba was cast, many of us have wondered what he'd make of the role. Well, wonder no more, because unofficial pics have emerged from the set of The Dark Tower in Cape Town that show Idris in all his gunslingin' garb:

So what do you think? Is he how you imagined Roland? Some fans of the books have already hailed Idris' costume as spot on, right down to the red kerchief and his famous sandalwood guns.

It certainly makes us even more excited about this movie version, which is due to hit theaters on February 17, 2017. Matthew McConaughey also stars as The Man in Black, with Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) on directing duties. No sign yet of Matthew on set, but rest assured we'll keep our eyes peeled.
