Festive Heaven! Emma Thompson is Making a Holiday Movie

As a wife who discovers her husband is having an affair, Emma Thompson supplies some of the most emotional moments in Richard Curtis's holiday classic Love Actually. Now, the multi-talented actress-screenwriter is making a festive film of her own.

According to Variety, Thompson has co-written the script for a holiday romance called Last Christmas with Bryony Kimmings, a rising star writer-comedian-performer from London. Thompson will also serve as one of the film's producers.

Paul Feig, known for helming female-fronted comedy movies Ghostbusters, The Heat, and Spy, has signed on to direct.

Sadly, all further details about the project are being kept under wraps – including whether Thompson will also appear in it. She remains the only person ever to win Oscars for both acting (Best Actress for 1992's Howards End) and screenwriting (Best Adapted Screenplay for 1995's Sense and Sensibility).

More recently, she showed off her comedy chops by co-writing and appearing in 2016's hit sequel Bridget Jones's Baby. Later this year, she'll be seen opposite Rowan Atkinson in spy spoof Johnny English Strikes Again.

She also has an intriguing role as a courtroom judge presiding over a life-changing case in The Children Act, a classy-looking dramatic film which hits theaters in September.

It's fast becoming a stellar year for Thompson. Last month, she was made a Dame Commander of the British Empire – becoming Dame Emma Thompson – for services to drama.

Are you excited for Emma Thompson's holiday movie? Should she star in it too?
