Everyone You Can Think Of is in Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express’

Kenneth Branagh's new film adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express has lined up an impressive cast — but until now, it's been kept under wraps.

As well as directing, Branagh stars as Hercule Poirot in the classic Agatha Christie mystery, joined by Dame Judi Dench as Princess Natalia Dragomiroff, Johnny Depp as Edward Ratchett, and Daisy Ridley as Mary Debenham, reports Empire.

They're flanked by The Night Manager's Olivia Colman as Hildegarde Schmidt, Michelle Pfeiffer as Mrs. Caroline Hubbard, Hamilton's Leslie Odom Jr. as Dr. Arbuthnot, Josh Gad as Hector MacQueen, and Willem Dafoe as Gerhard Hardman.

Penélope Cruz, Tom Bateman, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Marwan Kenzari, Derek Jacobi, Lucy Boynton, and Sergei Polunin all have roles too. It's difficult to imagine how the producers decided who got the best dressing rooms — and just imagine what the wrap party was like!

In fact, the film is so packed with talent, Entertainment Weekly has had to tweet its exclusive first cast photo side-on. Get ready to crane your neck around to see them all properly.

Based on Christie's enduringly popular 1934 novel, the story follows renowned Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates a murder that takes place on a lavish train journey through Europe. After the crime is committed, 13 strangers find themselves stranded on the luxury locomotive, and every one of them is considered a suspect.

In a way, it's hardly surprising that Murder on the Orient Express has attracted so many A-listers. Branagh is well-respected by his fellow thesps, and an earlier film adaptation was also stuffed with stars. Albert Finney, Sean Connery, Ingrid Bergman, Vanessa Redgrave, and Lauren Bacall all starred in the 1974 version.

There's no word yet on when we'll see the first trailer, but whoever's editing it will have a tough job squeezing in proper glimpses of the whole cast. Murder on the Orient Express hits theaters on November 12 of this year.
