We can look for a new on-screen romance, with Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor set to star in the forthcoming movie The Pod Generation, reports ComingSoon.net.
At first glance, the name of the movie makes us think of the 1978 sci-fi/horror flick Invasion of the Body Snatchers, aka pod people, starring Donald Sutherland. But, it’s not quite the same…
The Pod Generation is referring to fetuses who are grown in pods, which mom or dad can carry.
Clarke and Ejiofor are set to star as a married couple in a not so far off future, where “AI is all the rage” and “nature is becoming distant memory,” according to the synopsis.
A new technology has been developed, where an expecting mother can use a detachable womb vs. using her own body to gestate. Gestate is quite the clinical term, but in this case, it seems appropriate.
It takes about 280 days for a fertilized egg to grow into a fetus that is ready to be birthed and in the new movie, now both parents can help with the AI pregnancy.
Ejiofor’s character isn’t quite on board with this, but as a devoted husband, he goes along with the idea to support his wife and her beliefs.
Filming will begin in March 2022, with a release date still to come.
You can also look for Clarke in the superhero series Secret Invasion, also predicted to release in 2022. Ejiofor is working on the sci-fi series The Man Who Fell to Earth, which is filming now.
These two are liking sci-fi these days…
