David Tennant's upcoming drama Around the World in 80 Days has become the latest series to suspend production in the wake of the global Coronavirus pandemic, reports Deadline.

Shooting on the adaptation of Jules Verne's classic adventure novel was underway in South Africa, but it's understood that Tennant – who's starring in the eight-part series as intrepid explorer Phileas Fogg – is now returning to the U.K. while production pauses for a month.

“We’ll crawl over hot coals to make our shows, but there comes a point when you go: this isn’t fair on the teams and their families back at home. We’ve got to call a temporary hiatus and look after everyone and get them home,” said boss Simon Crawford Collins of production company Slim Film + Television. “We’re trying to pause things in the most effective way so we can launch back into production as soon as the mists clear.”

Around the World in 80 Days is due to air in the U.K. on the BBC. The BBC also confirmed earlier this week that filming has been halted on the new seasons of Line of Duty and Peaky Blinders because of the Coronavirus crisis.

In the meantime, David Tennant fans can catch him in Deadwater Fell, a British thriller series in which he gets to sport his native Scottish accent. The four-parter is due to premiere April 6 on Acorn TV,  which is now a part of the AMC Networks family. Bring it on!
