'Darkest Hour' Director Joe Wright Adapting 'The Woman in the Window' Novel for Big Screen

Director Joe Wright is just coming off directing Gary Oldman in 2017's The Darkest Hour, which won Oldman an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in Leading Role. How do you follow that?

Wright is now set to direct the film adaptation of A.J. Finn's novel The Woman in the Window, reports Variety.

Finn's novel just published this January, debuting in the No. 1 spot on The New York Times bestseller list. That is a pretty quick turnaround for a book to go from shelves to the big screen. So, what makes this story so intriguing?

The Woman in the Window revolves around... a woman in a window. Protagonist Dr. Anna Fox is a former child psychiatrist, who has become agoraphobic. She spends her days in her NYC townhouse drinking and watching old movies. She also watches her neighbors, obsessively...

When a new family moves in across the street, Dr. Fox witnesses an unsettling event. At least, she thinks she saw something.

And, it's not just us. Readers of the book cannot get enough, sharing their rave reviews on social media:

These are just some of the latest tweets from fans, but we're getting that the general consensus is: you won't want to put it down.

Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Tracy Letts (August: Osage County) will be writing the screenplay.

Any suggestions on who should play Dr. Anna Fox?
