It's funny to think, for a story which is so ridden with talk of destiny and following the path laid down for you by your genes, that Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe may not have been born into the role that made his name.

And no greater proof of this sudden disconnect can be found than the one in the interviews on the DVD/Blu Ray release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, where it turns out that Daniel, when he first started playing the role, was allergic to Harry's glasses.

That's right, one of two distinguishing marks for the character, the specs and the scar, and the lead actor can't wear them. Lucky, as JK Rowling points out in this clip, that they didn't believe in bad omens.

Somewhere, there's a parallel actor, small, boyish face, dark hair, in his early 20s, reading this and screaming in frustration "BUT I'M NOT ALLERGIC TO ANYTHING!"
