Daniel Craig has spoken about filming his last ever scene as James Bond, revealing that he became so emotional he was unable to make a farewell speech.

Shooting wrapped on No Time to Die, Bond's fifth and final movie as 007, in late October. Earlier that month, Craig had overtaken the late Sir Roger Moore to become the longest-serving Bond ever with more than 14 years in the iconic role.

"It was potentially a bit of an anti-climax, because they usually are," Craig told Empire. "[But] actually, it was very emotional. The whole crew came round and gathered outside."

"Everybody was hugging each other," he continued. "I tried to make a speech and couldn't get it out."

Last month, Craig reiterated the fact that he is "done" with the Bond franchise, joking that now he no longer needs to maintain his Bond physique, he can enjoy a diet of Guinness and "maybe some solids occasionally.”

However, Craig famously said in 2015 that he’d “rather slash my wrists” than make another Bond movie, but then signed up for No Time to Die, so fans can be forgiven for holding onto hope that he might change his mind again.

Featuring Bohemian Rhapsody's Rami Malek as a new nemesis for Craig's 007, No Time to Die is set to open in U.S. theaters on April 8, 2020, five days after its U.K. release. In the meantime, Craig is in contention to win his first ever Golden Globe award this Sunday. He's nominated in the Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy category for his performance in the hit murder-mystery movie Knives Out.
