There’s been talk of a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion coming soon, and today the first look trailer dropped with Dakota Johnson taking the lead.
If the story is new to you, or you need a refresher, Persuasion revolves around a young woman named Anne Elliot (Johnson), who's described as nonconforming when it comes to modern sensibilities. She and her family are on the verge of bankruptcy and in an attempt to save money, they rent out their home.
While this is all going on, Anne’s former love interest (Cosmo Jarvis) re-enters her life. The two were once engaged, but she was persuaded to turn her back on him. Now that he's back and they're both single, Anne has a decision to make. Is she going to pursue a second chance at love? Or should she put her family first?
Here’s a peek at the official trailer, with Johnson’s character breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to the viewer:

You can also look for Henry Golding, whose character also fancies Anne.
The movie is set to release on July 15 over at Netflix.
