Casting News: Woody Harrelson to Star in Female Assassin Thriller 'Kate'
The trend in female assassin projects continues, with the new Netflix movie Kate in the works. It was already announced Mary Elizabeth Winstead will take on the title role. And now Woody Harrelson has joined the revenge thriller, reports Deadline.
The story revolves around a killer-for-hire who has been permanently poisoned, in other words, there's no antidote. With no way of saving her own life, she turns her attention to exacting revenge. She has 24 hours to do so...
Harrelson's role has yet to be announced, as well, the description of the project is pretty brief. The movie's synopsis says Kate goes after her adversary's daughter, which provides some insight on what to expect in regards to plot and characters. It's purely speculative, but possibly Harrelson is a baddie.
If Winstead is new to you, here's a peek at her role as nurse Mary Phinney in the PBS period drama Mercy Street:
We know Harrelson from his iconic role as the young bartender Woody on the classic show Cheers (1985-1993). More recently, we've seen him in The Hunger Games franchise and the first season of True Detective in 2014. We can also look for him in the Zombieland sequel, coming out later this year.
