Casting News: Vera Farmiga Set to Star in Horror Movie 'Bad Bloom'
Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring, Orphan) is returning to the horror genre, now signed on to star in Bad Bloom, reports Hollywood Reporter.
The story revolves around a family living on an isolated island, and they're charged with keeping a monster under control. The story is being described as a "horror fairytale." Fairytales can be scary in themselves, so to up it with a dash of horror sounds terrifying indeed.
When one of the children learns that the true nature of the monster is not what they were expecting, their lives begin to unravel.
Bad Bloom marks the feature directorial debut for Bryce McGuire, who is known for shorts like 2018's Unfollowed and 2014's Night Swim.
If McGuire's work is new to you, here's a peek at Night Swim, which is... eerie:
Farmiga is racking up the horror roles, having starred in 2013's The Conjuring and 2016's The Conjuring 2. She's also completed filming on the third installment, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, which we can look for in 2021.
Backtracking, we saw her in 2009's Orphan, and in 2019's Annabelle Comes Home alongside her Conjuring trilogy costar Patrick Wilson.
And, not to forget, she starred as Norman Bates' mother, Norma, in the Psycho TV spinoff Bates Motel (2013-2017).
That's a lot of scary in one place.
Do you think Vera Farmiga is in the running for the title of Scream Queen?
