Casting News: 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Rachel Brosnahan has Signed on for Horror Anthology Series

If you've been enjoying Rachel Brosnahan in the title role of the TV series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, you're about to get more of her. And, more of filmmaker Sam Raimi, who created the Evil Dead franchise (1981-1992).

The two are teaming up for a short-form series called 50 States of Fright, according to Empire online. The series will land on the mobile short-form movie/TV app Quibi.

The series will feature an urban legend from each of the 50 U.S. states. Raimi and his brother Ivan have co-written a story that takes place in Michigan, which is named "The Golden Arm." There is the folktale of a corpse who comes back to life to find his missing arm, which apparently was one of Mark Twain's favorites. It's not confirmed that this is the story they will adapt, a guesstimate on our part, but... could be.

Whatever the origin story is, Sam and Ivan have most likely put their own twist on the writeup. We should all probably expect the unexpected, to be safe.

It's not clear if there will be 50 short-form pieces, but that makes sense. Other actors who have signed on include Christina Ricci, Asa Butterfield and Jacob Batalon. The series is due to launch next year, with the episodes being parceled out in "chunks."

In addition to Evil Dead, Raimi is also credited with the 2009 horror flick Drag Me to Hell. This isn't Brosnahan's first time taking on the gore-ific genre either, having starred in 2009's Unborn.
