Casting News: 'The Fall's Jamie Dornan to Star in Mystery-Thriller Series 'The Tourist'

The name of the series alone gets us excited, aka traveling!? As most of us have not gone far in quite a while...

Now we can travel vicariously through the forthcoming six-part series The Tourist, which is a collaboration between BBC and HBO Max.

Jamie Dornan, who we know from the thriller series The Fall (2013-2016) and Fifty Shades franchise (2015-2018), will be taking the lead. We can look for Dornan as a British transplant in Australia.

Dornan released a statement on the new project, saying, "The Tourist are some of the most exciting scripts I’ve ever read. I can’t wait to go to Australia with such a talented group of people," reports ComingSoon.net.

The series will be penned by writing partners Harry and Jack Williams (Baptiste), with Chris Sweeney (Liar) set to direct. The story revolves around Dornan's character on the road in the Australian outback, being pursued by an enraged truck driver. The description for the series says The Man wakes up in a hospital with amnesia and doesn't know who he is.

As the series rolls out, we'll go with him on a search for answers.

We can also look for Hugo Weaving as a highly-regarded detective. Weaving also released a statement, saying, "I’m very excited to be slipping into the skin of one of the fabulously idiosyncratic characters who people the desert landscape of The Tourist. The scripts are wonderful. Dark and shocking, surprising and hilarious and always very human. This is a tonally uniquely project and should be an unforgettable ride and shoot for us all."

Ooh, the way he puts it, we're even more excited for this!

While in the early stages, we can eventually look for The Tourist in both the U.S. and U.K., via HBO Max and the BBC, respectively.

In the meantime, we can catch-up with Dornan in 2020's Wild Mountain Thyme, opposite Emily Blunt.

What do you think of this plan so far!?
