Casting News: Thandie Newton Joins 'Reminiscence', New Movie from 'Westworld' Co-Creator
Thandie Newton has lined up her next movie role, and it's another collaboration with Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy.
Newton, who won a BAFTA Film Award for her performance in 2004's Crash, has joined Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson in Joy's feature film directorial debut, Reminiscence.
According to Variety, the movie is a thriller which counts Joy's Westworld co-creator Jonathan Nolan among its producers. As well as directing, Joy is writing the screenplay. However, all plot details and Newton's role are being kept tightly under wraps.
Shooting is due to start in late-October in New Orleans and Miami – after Joy, Nolan, and Newton complete work on season three of Westworld. Newton has already won an Emmy and two nominations for her performance on the show as Maeve Millay, a servile android who becomes increasingly aware of her subservient position in the show's fictional amusement park.
Happily, Newton has confirmed that she, like fellow Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood, will receive equal pay to their male co-stars for season three of the HBO show. “It’s really exciting. It’s unprecedented. It’s—goodness; it shatters so much calcified pain, resentment, frustration. It just shatters it,” Newton told Vanity Fair last year. Season three is expected to premiere in 2020.
