Taron Egerton has lined up only his second live-action movie role since his Golden Globe-winning turn in Rocketman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Kingsman actor has signed up to star in The Stars at Noon, an upcoming thriller from revered French director Claire Denis, after scheduling conflicts forced Robert Pattinson to withdraw from the project.
The movie is an adaptation of a 1986 novel by Denis Johnson that follows a struggling American journalist trying to make her way in Nicaragua during the country's 1984 revolution. Margaret Qualley (Fosse/Verdon, The Leftovers) is starring as the journalist, while Egerton will play a man who works for a dodgy oil company whom she meets at a fancy hotel bar.
Pattinson starred in Denis' last movie, 2018's sci-fi hit High Life, so this would have been their second collaboration in a row.
Meanwhile, Egerton is also due to star in Tetris, a biographical movie about the development and release of the iconic video game. We'll also hear him reprise his voice role as singing gorilla Johnny in Sing 2, due later this year.
Last year he was linked to a remake of Little Shop of Horrors, but this hasn't been confirmed yet.
