Fresh from showing off his singing and dancing skills in Elton John biopic Rocketman, Taron Egerton is eyeing another movie-musical role.

According to FullCirleCinema, the Welsh actor is in talks to star in a remake of Little Shop of Horrors, the off-Broadway musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman which was previously adapted into a 1986 movie with Rick Moranis.

Egerton is said to be considering the Moranis role: that of Seymour Krelborn, a geeky florist who's tricked by an extraterrestrial plant called Audrey II into feeding it humans.

Egerton has experience with the role: he played Krelborn in 2007 stage production of Little Shop of Horrors by the Aberystwyth Arts Centre Youth Theatre at home in north-Wales. One reviewer at the time praised the young actor for giving a "very sweet, amusing, and energetic performance."

Egerton could potentially be leading quite a cast in the remake. Self-styled movie industry insider Jeff Sneider is reporting that Scarlett Johansson has been offered the role of Audrey, Seymour's co-worker and the object of his affections, and Pose star Billy Porter is wanted for the voice of the plant.

Egerton's Rocketman hot streak was cemented at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month, where he won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. He's nominated for Best Actor in a leading role at the upcoming BAFTA Film Awards, too – find out if he wins when the ceremony airs Sunday at 9.10/8.10c on BBC America.
