Casting News: Russell Crowe Set to Star in Mysterious Supernatural Thriller

Russell Crowe has signed on for a new project, and it's so mysterious that it doesn't even have a title yet. Or, it's just really early on and the moviemakers have yet to decide.

Crowe will be teaming up with Joshua John Miller and M.A. Fortin, who will co-direct. Fortin is also handling writing duties and has already written the script, according to Deadline.

And, what's in said script? Crowe is set to play a troubled actor starring in a horror film. According to the description, slowly but surely he begins to unravel. It's not clear if his mental health is declining or if something more sinister is going on.

His estranged daughter, who has yet to be cast, takes notice and wonders if it's drug-related. That has to be very flustering for one to be taken over by a supernatural power and observers think he's just tweaking.

The movie is coming out of Miramax and producer Kevin Williamson is thrilled, saying in a statement: "[We] are so excited to work with Russell, one of the greatest actors of our time. Fortin and Miller have such a fresh vision for this film, we know that together they will create something terrifying and memorable.”

Crowe is pretty busy these days, currently filming a role for the movie Unhinged, which centers on a man with road rage (ack!). You can also catch-up with him in the recently released miniseries The Loudest Voice, where he portrays Roger Ailes, the founder of Fox News.

Do you have any suggestions for a title!?
