There's been a lot of talk about Loki of late, with him getting a new TV series, but what about his big brother Thor?
We aren't all that worried about the God of Thunder, with him having a series of movies (2013-2017) and a new installment coming up, entitled Thor: Love and Thunder. Chris Hemsworth is set to reprise the title role, and we can look for some new faces.
It was just recently announced that Russell Crowe is set to join the established franchise, taking on the role of Zeus, reports ComingSoon.net.
Zeus, the king of gods of Mount Olympus? That is nothing to sneeze at.
And, Crowe himself seems tickled with the idea, saying in an interview with radio station Joy 94.9, "I'm going to get on my bicycle. I'm going to ride up to Disney Fox Studios. Around 9:15, I shall be Zeus!"
Of course, his update is a little cryptic. 9:15am? 9:15pm? What day is this happening? We'll take it for what it is — that he's excited.
Crowe isn't the only new addition, we can also look for Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher (that does not sound good for the gods). Also, there will be a Guardians of the Galaxy crossover, with Karen Gillan and Chris Pratt showing up as Nebula and Peter Quill, respectively.
And, throwing in a bit of a twist, Melissa McCarthy and Matt Damon will be playing actors portraying the gods Hela and Thor.
In addition to the above, we can also look for Natalie Portman to return. She starred in 2011's Thor and the 2013 sequel Thor: The Dark World. Portman took a break from 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, but is now back as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor.
The plot for Thor: Love and Thunder is pulled from the 2014 comic-book storyline, where Foster is able to pick up Thor's hammer, called Mjölnir, earning her the title of Goddess of Thunder.
Also returning, Taika Waititi will direct and co-write the script with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Sweet/Vicious).
We can look for the next installment on May 6, 2022.
