Richard Armitage is to star in a British adaptation of Harlan Coben’s thriller novel Fool Me Once.

Joanna Lumley, Michelle Keegan, and Adeel Akhtar will co-star in the eight-part series, which is shooting now in and around Manchester, England with Happy Valley's Jessica Taylor as its producer.

Keegan, known for her roles in Our Girl and Coronation Street, will play a woman who believes that her husband (played by Armitage) was brutally murdered. However, when she fits their home with a nanny-cam, she spots a man who looks remarkably like him pottering around the house.

Fool Me Once will be the third Coben adaptation that Armitage has starred in following 2020's Stay Close and 2021's The Stranger. Like those two series, Fool Me Once is in the works at Netflix with BAFTA-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst serving as an executive producer. Coben is among the series' executive producers, too.

Brocklehurst said in a statement: "Following on from our smash hits The Stranger and Stay Close, Fool Me Once does not disappoint. Harlan’s books are storytelling genius and it’s great to be entrusted once more in bringing his gripping stories to life. As always with our thrillers, expect twist upon twist and an emotional roller-coaster. Plus, the cast is phenomenal – audiences are in for a treat!"
