Casting News: Rami Malek in Talks to Join Denzel Washington in 'Little Things'
Hot off his Oscar win, Rami Malek is lining up another plum role, this time opposite Denzel Washington.
According to Variety, the Bohemian Rhapsody actor is in early talks to co-star with Washington in crime thriller Little Things.
John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks, The Blind Side) is on board as writer-director and shooting is due to start in the fall.
Washington, himself a two-time Oscar winner, has already been cast as Deke, an over-the-hill deputy sheriff from Kern County, CA who teams up with rising star L.A. detective Baxter — the role Malek is circling – to track down a serial killer.
Washington's Deke is said to have an uncanny eye for the "little things" that prove useful when cracking a case, hence the movie's title, but he's also a little too willing to break the rules, which puts Baxter in a moral bind. It definitely sounds like a fresh challenge for Malek following his multi-award-winning turn as Queen singer Freddie Mercury.
Malek is currently shooting Bond 25, in which he's playing the main villain opposite Daniel Craig's 007. Filming on Little Things would begin after he's wrapped the new Bond movie.
He's also understood to be putting the finishing touches on the fourth and final season of Mr Robot, the TV hacking thriller for which he's won Emmy and Critics' Choice awards. So all in all, it's a busy period for the super-buzzy actor.
