Casting News: 'Pose' Star Billy Porter in Talks to Join James Corden's 'Cinderella'

Hot off his Primetime Emmy win last month, breakout star Billy Porter is eyeing a major movie role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Pose actor is "in negotiations" to play the Fairy Godmother in Sony's new Cinderella movie from James Corden.

Corden came up with the original idea for the project, a movie musical based on the beloved folk tale, and is serving as one of its producers. "Havana" singer Camila Cabello has already been cast in the title role, which was played most recently on screen by Lily James in a Disney live-action movie directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh. Helena Bonham Carter portrayed the Fairy Godmother in that one.

Porter won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series last month for his performance in Pose, the FX drama series about New York City's super-influential queer ballroom scene in the late '80s and early '90s.

He also won a Tony Award for his performance in the original Broadway production of Kinky Boots, and a Grammy Award for its soundtrack album. So, he's now just one prize away from the hallowed "E.G.O.T." which can be claimed by an exclusive group of folks who've won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. Could playing the Fairy Godmother help him to complete the set?!
